Non-Tenure Track Lecturer in Europe and the World, 1400-1700, University of Vermont
The University of Vermont’s Department of History in The College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position in Europe and the World, 1400-1700, at the rank of Lecturer. The initial appointment term is for the 2024-25 academic year and is renewable, based on the factors outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Opportunities to participate in a range of interdisciplinary programs exist, depending on the successful candidate’s research and teaching interests. The position will start in the Fall of 2024 (19 August 2024). The successful candidate will display innovation and excellence as a teacher in the field of Europe and the World. Engaging classroom practices and an ability to inspire students in the study of history are also expected.
The successful candidate should:
-Hold a Ph.D. in History or be an advanced ABD candidate in History;
-Have the capacity to teach undergraduate courses ranging from the introductory Global -History survey (HST 1310) and History Methods (HST 2050) to more specialized courses at the advanced undergraduate levels in the area of the candidate’s expertise;
-Demonstrate a commitment to remaining aware of pedagogical trends in the field and of developments in the candidate’s area of research expertise.
The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities that include:
-Teaching in the department’s undergraduate programs at all levels;
-Potentially teaching in the department’s graduate program.
