CONFERENCE: The Fifteenth Century Conference 2026

An annual conference for late medieval studies, the Fifteenth Century Conference 2026 has met regularly since 1970 and brings together established scholars of fifteenth-century studies with younger colleagues at the start of their academic careers. It seeks to act as a showcase for current research, encourage discussion, and explore new directions of enquiry.

CALL FOR PAPERS: The call for papers is here. Please send proposals for papers to BOTH David Rundle ([email protected]) AND Sheila Sweetinburgh ([email protected]) by 31 January 2026. Papers should be 40 minutes in length. They should be based on original research and be suitable for working up for submission to The Fifteenth Century (The Fifteenth Century – Boydell and Brewer), an edited series closely associated with the Conference. Please note, however, that there is no obligation to publish and submissions to this series undergo a separate peer-review process.Proposals should include a title and an abstract of the paper totalling no more than 300 words. Along with the abstract, please also provide a short biography (max. of 250 words), which should include any institutional affiliations and, in the case of postgraduate students, the name of your PhD supervisor.

DATES FOR CONFERENCE: The 2026 Conference will be held at the University of Kent from Thursday 3 September to Saturday 5 September, and will be organised by Dr David Rundle and Dr Sheila Sweetinburgh.

LOCATION: The 2025 Conference was held at Durham University, from Thursday 4 – Saturday 6 September, and was organised by Professor Christian Liddy. The programme is here.
