The Elizabethan era saw a flowering of cultural and political exchanges with the Muslim world, as England forged new relationships with non-Christian allies – from merchants, diplomats and adventurers to Islam’s influence on the works of Shakespeare.

Chaired by journalist Shafi Musaddique, this fascinating event includes a talk from award-winning writer and historian Professor Jerry Brotton, author of This Orient Isle, following by a Q&A.

Produced in association with HistFest.
