ONLINE CONFERENCE/CFP: Shakespeare In/Action
CALL FOR PAPERS
The BSA Board of Trustees is proud to host the 2021 British Shakespeare Association virtual conference on the theme of Shakespeare In/Action.
The conference will explore new ways of putting Shakespeare into action, looking at the intersections between Shakespearean texts and performances, disciplinary innovation, and the multiple ways in which these interact with history, politics and culture. The focus on innovation is particularly relevant since the closure of theatres due to the coronavirus epidemic, and we address this in the conference title: Shakespeare In/Action. Using a virtual platform, the conference invites academics, practitioners, and educators from across the world to consider how we might utilise new interdisciplinary approaches in order to develop innovative ways of performing, writing about, and teaching Shakespeare.
Participation in this year’s online conference will be open to members of the British Shakespeare Association. To join or renew your membership, please visit: https://www.britishshakespeare.ws/members/join-the-bsa-or-renew-membership/
The Conference Committee will contact all those who have already submitted proposals to the previous CfP last year. Please note: submissions of proposals for new sessions, individual papers, and submissions to seminar sessions are now closed.
It is still possible to sign up for one of two interactive workshops at this year’s conference:
