She has just turned full Professor (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches, Paris Sorbonne Nouvelle, Jan. 2023) and specialises in British seventeenth- and eighteenth-century orientalism, translation, postcolonial, and decolonial studies. Her research there focuses on early modern works in the genre of tartīb al-'ulūm, or classification of knowledge and of the sciences in Islam.

Her first book was titled L'Orient anglais (Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment/Liverpool UP, 2011). She co-edited Eastern Resonances in Early Modern England: Receptions and Transformations from the Renaissance to the Romantic Period (New York: Palgrave, 2019) and Islam and New Directions in World Literature, which has just come out with Edinburgh University Press (November 2022). She has extensive publications in international peer-reviewed journals, such as Translation Studies, Journal for Postcolonial Writing, Journal of Commonwealth Studies, Revue de Litteratures Comparées, Etudes anglaises, Alif, and many others. Her forthcoming book, contracted with Oxford University Press, is titled From Corpus to Canon: Appropriations and Reconfigurations of Eastern Literary Traditions in Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-Century Britain.

She has recently been awarded the Bahari Research Fellowship at the Bodleian Library which is enabling her to develop a key strand of her research into the establishment of the first Islamic manuscript collections in early modern England.
