Emily Stevenson is a Lecturer in Renaissance and Early Modern Literature at the University of York. Her research focuses on sixteenth and seventeenth century travel writing communities, and how these were represented within travel texts. She is currently working on a monograph based on her doctoral research which will use social network analysis alongside historical and textual analysis to examine Principal Navigations within its wider social and literary contexts. She completed her DPhil at the University of Oxford while working as a Doctoral Researcher on the TIDE project (Travel, Transculturality and Identity in England, c, 1550-1700) between 2018-21, and was a Postdoctoral Researcher on the project between 2021-2. She has also previously taught at the University of Liverpool, the University of Reading, and the University of Oxford, and is a member of the Hakluyt Society council, having been elected in 2022.
