Naeelah Kamaldien joins the Team as Dr Hassana Moosa’s Research Assistant.

Naeelah has completed a BA in English, Psychology and Philosophy, a BA Honours in Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (cum laude), and a Master of Arts in English Literature – all at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. She is currently awaiting the examination result of her PhD in English Literary Studies which she completed at the University of Cape Town. Her PhD contributes to significantly new decolonial knowledge by exploring Apartheid protest poetry authored by South African high school learners during the Apartheid period. Naeelah has experience teaching English to both high school learners and undergraduate UCT students. She is the current editor of the South African Council for English Education’s prestigious anthology- “English Alive’’, which is a compilation of South African high school learners’ poetry and prose submissions. Naeelah’s research interests are rooted in English literature, Education, History, Psychology, Apartheid, and the history of Islam.
