
Assistant Professor, Department of History, Carnegie Mellon University
Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of History seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor in the history of the modern or early modern Middle East, North Africa, or the Persian-speaking or Turkic-speaking worlds. We invite applications from scholars with disciplinary backgrounds in History or historically-informed scholars working in the fields of Anthropology or Middle East Studies. We welcome applications from scholars working on a broad range of thematic and topical areas, including – but not limited to – the history of science, technology, environment, or medicine in the region. The successful candidate will teach both graduate and undergraduate students in their areas of speciality on a 2/2 semester course load. The candidate’s course offerings should include an undergraduate course on the history of the modern Middle East.
