Departmental Lecturer in English Language and Literature at University of Oxford

The Faculty of English Language and Literature, in association with Pembroke College, is seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer. This is a 9-month fixed-term teaching and research appointment in English Language and Literature. It is anticipated that the appointee will take up their post on 1 January 2022.

The postholder will be expected to provide 4 hours of undergraduate tutorial teaching per week for the College, and up to 24 hours of Faculty lectures or classes across the two terms on topics related to English language, including contributing to the core lecture series for the language section of Prelims Paper 1 (Introduction to English Language) and teaching the first half of the History of the English Language paper (c.650 to 1400). The postholder will also undertake dissertation supervision, examining, and the normal duties of a college tutor.

The successful candidate must possess or be near to completing a doctorate in English Language or a related field and must have experience of undergraduate teaching and possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. They should also have a research and publication record, appropriate to their career stage, in English Language.
