Departmental Lecturer in Persian Literature at the University of Oxford

The University of Oxford intends to appoint a Departmental Lecturer of Persian Literature with effect from 1st October 2021. This is a one-year position, to cover the teaching, examining, and administrative duties of the Associate Professor of Persian Literature. Applications are invited from scholars of Persian literature regardless of period or genre specialisation. The successful applicant will be someone who can teach premodern and modern Persian literary texts (poetry and prose) in the original language.

The Departmental Lecturer will lecture and teach (primarily) undergraduate students, and will be encouraged to conduct independent research during their time in post.

You will have a doctorate or equivalent in Persian Literature before the start date of the appointment, a proven ability to give lectures and classes to undergraduate students in the field of Persian Literature, fluency in literary Persian and the ability to teach texts in the original (premodern and modern, poetry and prose). The successful candidate will also have a current and projected research and publication record in the field of Persian literary studies, and the ability and readiness to contribute to administration of the Persian BA and Persian elements of EMEL through Faculty structure.

This position is based in central Oxford. This is a full-time, fixed-term position between 1 October 2021 and 30 September 2022.

Grade 7: £32,817 - £40,322 p.a.
