Departmental Tutor at UCL History

UCL History seeks to appoint a Departmental Tutor. The role holder will have responsibility for the taught student experience in the Department of History: individual student welfare and academic progression; assessment, progression and award; personal and professional development. 

The role holder will work closely and collaboratively with the Head of Department, the Chairs of the BA and MA Boards of Examiners, the Directors of Teaching (UG and PGT), the UG Admissions Tutor, Programme Tutors, the Teaching and Learning Manager (and the wider Teaching and Learning administration team), the Student Success Advisor, and colleagues in the Faculty office, particularly the Faculty Head of Student Casework. 

The position is maternity leave cover from 7 June 2021 until 3 June 2022 with the possibility of an extension. 

The successful candidate will have teaching or other employment experience in further or higher education; pastoral care experience within further or higher education (including the co-ordination and management of pastoral care processes); they will be a highly effective communicator; have the ability to interpret and apply complex academic regulations; and the ability to ability to review and update ‘local’ regulation. An awareness and understanding of issues relating to widening access in higher education. An ability to be flexible, to respond to changing priorities in a busy environment, taking a proactive approach.
