Digital Humanities and Writing teaching position at the University of Toronto - Woodsworth College.
The University of Toronto Faculty of Arts & Science and the Transitional Year Programme (TYP) invite applications for a full-time teaching stream appointment in the area of Digital Humanities and Writing. The successful candidate will be appointed to Woodsworth College (51%) and TYP (49%) at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, and will begin on July 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.
Person Specification:
- Must have a completed PhD in philosophy, religion, languages and literatures, writing studies, linguistics, history, the arts or relevant discipline related to Digital Humanities and Writing by the time of the appointment or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching.
- Candidates must have demonstrated experience in teaching writing, reading and analytic skills to traditional and non-traditional undergraduate university students who may face barriers to access university education due to race, indigeneity, class, gender, sexual orientation, ability and/or migrant/refugee identifications and histories.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, a teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong teaching statement, sample syllabi, course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.
- At the Transitional Year Programme, the successful candidate will teach TYP required courses in writing and rhetoric, as well as a new course related to Digital Humanities that both supports students during their time in the program and prepares them for success following admission to the Faculty of Arts and Science.
- Be able to support effective assignment design and writing-to-learn activities that promote faculty development focused on writing and language instruction.
