Full-time Teaching Fellow in History at Warwick University
The Warwick University History Department is one of the largest history departments in the UK, with teaching and research notable for its disciplinary range and geographical scope. The Department is comprised of 51 academic staff, 16 postdoctoral staff, 10 support staff, ~1,000 undergraduate students, and ~100 postgraduate students. The Department has a strong international reputation and high rankings in university guides and surveys, and was ranked first in the UK in the last Research Excellence Framework (REF) for the proportion of world-leading research activity (4*) in the Department. The Department of History seeks to appoint a full-time (1.0 FTE) Teaching Fellow in History for a fixed-term period of 21 months commencing from 1 October 2021. During the first year of your appointment, you will contribute to the first year team taught core modules “HI153 Making of the Modern World” and “HI 113 Europe in the Making” by delivering some lectures and taking seminar groups. You will also be expected to contribute to teaching of the second year “HI2E4 Research Project” module and supervise final-year dissertations.
During the second year of your appointment, the department would like to give you the opportunity to teach your own module with topics from your area of expertise/research in addition to some core first and/or second year teaching.
You will undertake lecturing, seminar teaching, essay tutorials, office hours, marking of undergraduate work and monitoring of student attendance in accordance with the Department’s quality assurance practices. You will also act as personal tutor to an assigned group of undergraduate students, providing pastoral support and guidance during the academic year. You will be actively engaged in research in History.
Due to limited external funds, appointment will be on SP27 £30,942 per annum in October 2021 and rising to SP29 £32,817 per annum in October 2022.
