The Rothermere American Institute and the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri seek to appoint a stipendiary Junior Research Fellow in Atlantic History. This post is intended to provide a promising early career scholar with a congenial environment for the development of their research and academic administration beyond the doctoral level. The post is fixed-term for 3 years and 3 months from 1 May 2022.
As well as producing exceptional research at postdoctoral level for publication in books and articles, on any topic in Atlantic history, the Fellow will assist the Kinder Institute in the programme delivery of the University of Missouri’s MA in Atlantic History and Politics, which includes a summer study abroad component held in Oxford. The successful candidate will assist in curriculum development, logistical arrangements and teaching. The Fellow will also be encouraged to assist in the teaching of history to Oxford undergraduates for up to three hours per week.
Person Specification:
- Research focuses on the political dimensions, broadly defined, of Atlantic history in any chronological period since 1600, including the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
- Holds a PhD/DPhil (either completed or near to completion).
- Plans for post-doctoral research of high quality.
