
Lecturer in British Imperial History at King's College London
The Department of History seeks to appoint a Lecturer in British Imperial History, tenable for 12 months full-time from 1 September 2021, to cover for Professor Richard Drayton during a period of externally funded leave.
The post-holder will be responsible for teaching the modules 5AAH9I01 Investigating the Colonial Past of King’s College London and 7AAH5003 The British Empire. In addition, you will teach on the modules 4AAH0001 Historical Skills, Sources and Approaches, 4AAH1007 Worlds of the British Empire and 5AAH0001/5AAH0002 History and Memory, as well as making contributions to the MA in World History and Culture. You will also be expected to contribute to the administration and pastoral provision of the Department of History.
Applications are welcome from candidates with expertise in British Imperial History and the ability to teach the modules outlined above. Candidates should have submitted a PhD by the date of appointment.

Conduct research on British Imperial History

Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
PhD in British Imperial History submitted or awarded
Excellent research expertise in British Imperial History
Ability to convene, teach and assess modules relating to British Imperial History across the undergraduate curriculum
Ability to engage students and support their learning
Demonstrable administrative and interpersonal skills, a collaborative ethos, and capacity for team-working
Strong track record in research relative to career stage
Experience of teaching and supporting students at UG level
Ability to teach the modules listed in the role profile
Desirable Criteria
Experience of teaching and supporting students at PG level
