Lecturer in Early Modern History, Newcastle University

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology at Newcastle University invites you to apply to the role of a Lecturer in Early Modern British and European History to contribute to our teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

You will be expected to contribute to deliver scholarship-informed modules on aspects of Early Modern British and European History at undergraduate level. In addition, one of your main roles will be to make a significant contribution to our stage 1 module ‘What is History For?' and to contribute to our skills modules on stages 1 and 2. You might also be asked to contribute to our MA modules in British and European History. An ability to teach on our public history modules is desirable but not essential. You will need to demonstrate a track record or the potential to develop a track record of high-quality teaching within a higher education environment, as well as experience of having effective administration capabilities. You should have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively and engagingly to students, staff and external audiences. You will be able to work within a diverse teaching and research environment.

You also must be able to demonstrate (through formal or informal actions) a commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and widening participation in their spheres of work.

This post is a full, time fixed term for a duration of 24 months, commencing on the 1 September 2023. The position is to cover an academic in the section on research leave.
