The Department of English wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Early- Modern Literature (Academic Education Pathway) for a fixed-term period of 18 months to replace Professor Gordon McMullan who will be taking a period of research leave. The appointment will run from 1 January 2022. The successful candidate will have a strong record in teaching and scholarship to complement our current strengths in the field. They will be able to teach on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules. In Semester 2 of 2021/22 this will include: 4AAEA005 Early Modern Literary Culture (1^st year UG), 5AAEB066 The Poetry of Revolution (2^nd year UG) and 7AAEM220 Theatre, Gender and Culture in Jacobean London (MA). The postholder will also contribute to the pastoral care of students as a personal tutor and will supervise undergraduate and MA dissertations. They will be responsible to the Head of Department.

This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 18 months. This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

Key responsibilities:

• Participate in the planning, organisation and delivery of teaching activities within the department

• Serve as module convenor for undergraduate and MA modules.

• Act as personal tutor to students as agreed with the Head of Department and assist with difficulties, e.g. learning support/problems.

• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations. ·

• Participate fully in assessment and examination processes as appropriate using a variety of methods and techniques and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their leaning. ·

• Contribute to the administration of the Department

• Engage in professional development as appropriate.

• Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be requested by the Head of Department.
