Duties of the Role

We seek to appoint a full-time ASE (education-focused) Lecturer in Heritage Studies. This is a three-year (34 month), fixed term post replacing a permanent member of staff on research leave. The successful candidate will teach UG and PGT modules in Heritage Studies and related subjects, direct BA and MA courses in Heritage Studies, lead on new course and module development, provide pastoral care, and supervise dissertations.

Skills and qualifications required

Candidates must have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in Heritage Studies or a closely related discipline. Experience of working independently in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels (or demonstrable potential to achieve this) is essential. The appointee will have a commitment to student engagement and learning, as well as a passion for interdisciplinary, research-led teaching.

While the area of expertise within Heritage Studies is open, applications from specialists in the following areas are particularly welcome: digital heritage; critical heritage studies; museum studies; heritage and visual culture; heritage and human rights; heritage and environment/sustainability; heritage and decolonisation.
