Librarian (Africa and African Languages) at SOAS, University of London

SOAS Library attracts scholars from around the world and has holdings of 1.3 million volumes including an impressive number of print subscriptions in Western and vernacular languages. The Library Access and Discovery team is part of the Library, Learning, Research and Enterprise Directorate. Its role includes providing seamless access to and discovery of SOAS’ unique collections to enable learning, teaching and research.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced librarian for this varied role in our team of specialist subject and regional librarians. You will support research, teaching and learning and the full collection management lifecycle.

About you:

You will need to demonstrate:

-Collection management and acquisitions experience

- Experience in designing and delivering information instruction

- A background in African Studies or equivalent knowledge including understanding of the information needs relating to this subject area

Contract type:  Interim: 6 months, immediate start. Secondments will be considered.

Hours:  35 hours per week – please note this post requires the ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends
