Munby Fellowship in Book History (2022-2023) x 2 at University of Cambridge - University Library.

The Library Syndicate invites applications for two Munby Fellowships in Book History at University of Cambridge for the tenure of 1 October 2022 to 31 July 2023.

The Munby Fellows will be free to pursue research of their choosing in any area of the wide fields of Bibliography and the History of the Book. It is, however, expected that the Fellows' research will be, at least in part, based directly or indirectly on the collections of the University and Colleges of Cambridge and likely to be of benefit, in the broadest sense, to scholars using those collections in the future. The Fellows are also expected to participate fully in the life and activities of the University Library, e.g. through participation in the Library's research and public engagement programmes (comprising activities such as talks, seminars, displays, participation in social media, and other events).

For 2022-23, one fellowship is open to those pursuing research on any topic within this general framework. For the second, the Electors to the Fellowship will be particularly pleased to receive applications based on collections in Cambridge from beyond the European language areas, as these have been historically very under-represented. Any applications meeting the criteria for the second fellowship will automatically be considered for both. It is expected that non-stipendiary fellowships at Darwin College and St John's College respectively will be offered to the successful candidates.

Person Specification:

- Academic record of the candidate, taking into account the career stage of the applicant.

- Suitability of the research proposal as an area within the fields of Bibliography and the History of the Book.

- Potential of the research proposal to be of benefit to future scholars using the collections of the University and Colleges of Cambridge.

- Evidence of ability to contribute fully to the life and activities of the University Library.

- Upload a statement outlining your research proposal (a maximum of 2 A4 pages) alongside your covering letter and CV, as well as completing the online application form. Please include details of three referees; references will only be taken up for shortlisted candidates.

- Eligible to live and work in the UK.
