
Post-Doctoral Fellow at SOAS University of London (3 years fixed term)
The School of History, Religions and Philosophies at SOAS University of London, is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral researcher at either level G7 or G8 (commensurate to experience) for a term of three years from January 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The researcher will bring a discrete research project to the department that will resonate and create synergies with the research interests of other staff-members within the department. The candidate will be expected to complete this research project and produce an identifiable output within the term of the fellowship. In addition to undertaking their own research, during the term of the fellowship the fellow is expected to actively contribute to research activities within the department, such as the organisation of seminars and workshops and applications for external funding. This should ideally take the form of a collaborative grant application that will bring people and institutions together and strengthen the research profile of the department.
You will need to demonstrate:
A PhD relevant to the History of Asia, Africa and the Middle East;
A profound, including linguistic, knowledge of the area of your expertise;
A clearly articulated, innovative, and feasible research proposal;
Experience with communicating the outcomes of academic research to different kinds of audiences;
Excellent communication and networking skills;
You will have first experiences with grant applications and a good understanding of the funding environment and culture of a research-intensive institution.
