Tenure-Track Faculty Cluster (Multiple Positions), Penn State University Abington

Penn State Abington is pleased to announce a cluster hiring initiative focused on teaching and research in the area of equity and diversity. For fall 2023, they are seeking to appoint at least three tenure-track faculty that will expand our curricular offerings, support our degree program in Race and Ethnic Studies, and strengthen the campus' efforts to promote inclusive and equity-minded teaching strategies. We are inviting applications from scholar-teachers in the following four research and teaching areas:

• American Studies, Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies, or Writing Studies

• Latina/o Studies or African-American Studies

• History, with specialization in modern (post-1800) Africa, the Middle East, or Latin America/the Caribbean

• South Asian Religious Studies

Qualifications: Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree in American Studies, Comparative Literature, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Sociology, Writing Studies, or a related discipline by the appointment start date. College-level teaching experience and expertise in one of the listed areas of research and teaching is expected.

Responsibilities: Successful candidates will teach 9 credits/semester, pursue an active research agenda, and contribute to the department, college, university, and profession through service. Successful candidates will be expected to work effectively with a diversity of students that represent a range of backgrounds and social identities, including those with varying levels of academic preparation, and to demonstrate a commitment to innovative, engaging, and student-centered learning and teaching that is responsive to the needs of diverse students in a major metropolitan area.
