
Visiting Assistant Professor, Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program, Wesleyan University
The Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies program at Wesleyan University seeks to hire a one-year visiting assistant professor beginning September 1 2021, with substantive research and teaching interests in gender and sexuality studies, broadly construed. Research and teaching interests in Transnational Feminism and/or Race, Gender and Sexuality preferred. Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies is an interdisciplinary program offering an undergraduate major in the study of gender and sexuality as categories of analysis and experience within the broad matrices of race, class, ethnicity, and nation. Wesleyan is a highly selective liberal arts college that values both scholarship and teaching very highly, has a strong, diverse undergraduate student body, and offers competitive salaries and benefits. The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach an introductory level Gateway course in gender and sexuality studies (FGSS 200), as well as other courses in the VAP's area of specialization, and will carry a 3/2 teaching load.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or advanced graduate course work in women's and gender studies, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Literature, Philosophy, Media Studies, relevant area studies, or other relevant academic discipline required; a successful candidate may be hired as an Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment.
