
Visiting Assistant Professor in Early American History, Colby College
The History department at Colby College seeks applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Early American History (1 year sabbatical replacement), with preference for a focus on race, environmental, or indigenous history, beginning July 1, 2023. The successful candidate will teach four courses in total, including HI131, a survey of American History to 1865, in the Fall semester of 2023. We are particularly interested in candidates who bring to the classroom experiences, identities, ideas, and ways of engaging that resonate with the increasingly diverse student body at Colby. We seek candidates with great potential to be innovative, effective, and inclusive teacher-scholars, who may be willing to make use of resources such as the Colby Museum of Art, Special Collections, and the Mule Works Innovation Lab. The Colby History Department is committed to professional development and the future advancement of all its members. Ph.D. required by the start of the appointment.
