Visiting Assistant Professor in History at Boston College
The Department of History at Boston College invites applications for two Visiting Assistant Professorships, beginning August 2023. Appointments are renewable pending successful annual reviews for a maximum term of three years. Visiting faculty typically teach a linked sequence of two survey courses, “Globalization I” (Fall) and “Globalization II” (Spring). These courses contribute to the History Core Program, through which all undergraduates at Boston College develop a familiarity with early-modern and modern history, focusing on major changes from roughly 1500 to the present. These courses also introduce students to history as a discipline, including the interpretation of primary sources. All regional specializations are welcome. Applicants need not be world historians as such, but should demonstrate an ability to bring a global framework to their teaching. More information on the History Core can be found at:

Visiting faculty will also be expected to carry out their research and to contribute to the intellectual life of the department. Salaries are competitive and include research support.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in History or related discipline should be conferred between August 1, 2020, and August 1, 2023.
